Kitten Update

Just wanted to update anyone who is reading this on the foster status at home. I currently have a mom (Sweetie Pie) and her two tortie girls. They are beautiful! Their two brothers are currently in another foster home. I also still have Cloud with me, who is now 4 weeks old (my how they grow) and is already starting to eat wet food and use the litter box (phew!) Out of the original six babies I got around 4 weeks ago, Grover just recently went to another home who had lost a kitten due to surgery. I still have Janice, who is a gorgeous tiger. She is the kitten on the right (out of the 3) in the blog header picture. Adoptions are slower throughout the summer as vacation > new pet(s). Unfortunately, a slow-adoption time also coincides with the worst part of kitten season, when shelters are overloaded with babies, pregnant moms, and entire families. Time to take pictures and get these kittens adopted into their permanent homes!!!

ANIMAL ALERT!

Animal Alert! To all readers: a GRAY TUXEDO was found this morning around 10th Avenue & 51st Street. He is INJURED and is being RUSHED to the vet as we type. The local pet food store, Happy Feet, were the ones that found him. Does he belong to you? Please cross-post as needed!

no go

Turns out the five were grabbed by another rescue organization -- that is great news!!! It always breaks my heart to see a kitten or cat on the list that no one can take in. I'm glad that someone is taking the five, because that opens up some new spots in the home!

This little 4-week old, Cloud, is currently en route to my apartment now. She was all alone and was set to be put to sleep tonight :(

She needs a little push with eating and will need some extra attention. I can't wait to introduce her to Beau and Fox, her new foster family!

and then there were five

Just heard word that these little guys are on the 'Euth' list for tonight. 6 pm is scheduled to be their last hour. It's 4:30 now and I've volunteered to foster them until I find them a home but I hope I'm not too late... The very first one in the series of pictures is only 1 week old and barely has his eyes open. They are all 'bottle kittens' which means feeding them a lot of KMR (Kitten Milk Replacement). Oh boy.

foster story

Hi blogosphere! I'm Aileen and I've played the role of Foster Mom to many a kitten. I volunteer for the rescue organization, A Tail At A Time, which is based in New York. Above, you'll see Grover, Luke, and Janice -- just three of the many kittens that have been family.

Check out A Tail At A Time's
Facebook fan page, and be sure to 'Like' them once you've visited! You can also check out their home page to see what else is going on in the rescue world.
